This video demonstrates the inline operation of a pharmaceutical folder system integrated with my custom-designed modular inspection system. You'll see each module in action — including the Hugger (skew correction), Curing Module, Inspection Module, Reject Module, and Stacker — working together to ensure dimensional accuracy, proper folding, barcode compliance, and glue verification. The system was engineered to operate in real time alongside existing production equipment, enhancing quality control without disrupting workflow.

This section showcases the development of a modular inline inspection system engineered to meet the rigorous quality standards of pharmaceutical production. I led the mechanical design, integration, and prototyping of each module — including the Hugger (skew correction), Curing, Inspection, Reject, and Stacker modules — with a focus on precision, reliability, and efficiency.
Developed for CCL Industries, this system was designed to identify folding errors, adhesive issues, and barcode mismatches in real time. Many components were prototyped and fabricated using custom-built 3D printers, enabling rapid iteration and reduced development costs.
Pharmaceutical Inspection System Online
The Complete Pharma Inspection System was developed to automate quality control for folded pharmaceutical inserts. It combines several precision-engineered modules to detect barcode errors, verify glue presence, check fold integrity, and ensure dimensional accuracy.
From concept to production, each module was designed for both adaptability and performance. Explore how each one contributes to maintaining consistent quality and reducing production errors in pharmaceutical literature manufacturing.
Inspection System
The Hugger Module ensures that pharmaceutical inserts are precisely aligned before entering downstream inspection and curing stages. By correcting skew introduced during the last knife fold, it plays a key role in maintaining accuracy and preventing processing errors in high-speed production environments.




Hugger Module
The Curing Module is designed to ensure proper adhesive curing by holding glued inserts and outserts under controlled pressure before inspection. Positioned between the pressing unit and the inspection system, it allows time for the adhesive to set fully — improving production reliability and preventing false rejects due to uncured glue. This module enhances workflow stability while supporting high-speed pharmaceutical processing.




Curing Module
The Inspection Module leverages AI-enhanced camera systems to perform real-time checks for barcode accuracy, dimensional compliance, and adhesive presence. Engineered to meet the high standards of pharmaceutical production, this module helps detect defects before inserts reach the final stacking stage.
By integrating advanced imaging and automated decision-making, the module significantly improves inspection speed and consistency—boosting both reliability and throughput across the entire production line.




Inspection Module
The Reject Module plays a crucial role in quality assurance by removing defective inserts and outserts identified during inspection. Triggered by real-time feedback from the Inspection Module or other system components, it ensures that only conforming products continue down the production line. By automatically isolating rejects, this module safeguards downstream processes and upholds production reliability without slowing throughput.
Reject Module
The Vertical Stacker is a streamlined reimagining of traditional pharmaceutical stacking equipment. Designed for simplicity and compactness, it delivers the core functionality of standard stackers while minimizing footprint and setup complexity—making it an ideal solution for space-conscious production environments.
